OUR STORY
Direct Flights International was established in 1990 to provide a unique service to the niche market of the Indochina community, and over the last 17 years has grown to be one of Australia’s most popular and trusted discount travel operators.
In 1990, DFI initiated a charter contract using Qantas Airways starting the first direct service into Vietnam from Australia with a Boeing 767-300ER with capacity of 240 seats and 9 tonnes of cargo operating 45 flights a year. DFI also ran a GSA for Vietnam Airlines and Lao Aviation in 1994 to 1996 in Australia.
When Qantas commenced their own direct flights services to Vietnam, Direct Flights branched out to become a consolidator of airfares for various airlines specializing in the Asian market.
Since then, Direct Flights International has developed into one of the most well respected travel wholesalers across Australia, combining award-winning dynamic technology, outstanding customer service, and providing unbelievable prices from over 40 air carriers worldwide, and literally thousands of hoteliers across the globe.
In addition to offering customers an incredible travel experience, Direct Flights is continuously striving to make financing travel as convenient and easy as possible, and has developed invaluable relationships with several financial groups to offer an unprecedented array of convenient on and offline ways to pay for bookings.
DFI is a licensed Travel Agent (2TA 00 3432) and a member of the Travel Compensation Fund, operating and complying with the obligations set out in the Travel Agents Act 1986. It is a licensed member of IATA (02 34167) having met strict financial guidelines and other travel agency related qualifications to permit electronic issuance of airline tickets.

Cong Thanh Le:
Mr Cong gained a Bachelor of Physics and Mathematics & MBA (Lomonoxop National University in Moscow, Russia). He is the co-founder of DFI, and started the joint venture operation between DFI and Vietnam Airlines flying Vietnam to Australia v.v. This joint venture was extremely successful and resulted in Direct Flights becoming the GSA of Vietnam Airlines in Australia.
Le also holds the position of Director for the Linden Group Pty Limited, which provides strategic and commercial advice to select corporate sector and government clients.
Truong Vinh Nguyen:
Mrs. Nguyen has over 30 years experience in the airlines industry, with particular interest in Sales and Marketing, Cargo and customer services, Management of Charter Services and General Sales Agency Operations. Nguyen is a former Sales Executive of Cathay Pacific Airlines in Vietnam.
Nay Phu Tran:
Mr Tran obtained a Bachelor of Economics & Finance at the University of Sydney, and has 15 years experience in Sales and Marketing, Customer Services, Operations Cost Analysis, Accounting and Credit Control.
In addition, Nay oversees the DFI operations and continues to build and strengthen the company through the vision and direction of its management and board.
Mr Grant Symonds:
Former employee of Thai Airways International in Australia, Mr. Symonds has 20 years experienced promoting Royal Orchid Holidays and working closely with the Tourism Industry of Thailand. While at Thai Airways International, Mr. Symonds excelled in multiple positions, from State Manager for NSW & ACT to National Marketing Manager before resigning in 2002.
